Woopeee! I've been tagged by Steph!
1. I have another "worry sore" on my lip! I have got to stop worrying about things I can't change... a problem I have suffered with all my life!
2. This week I am painting 28 fairies for a friends "Kinsinyera" (sp? ...sound it out...it's a Hispanic tradition of the young woman's 15th b'day).
3. Yesterday at 4:30 in the morning I picked up a bread knife to slice some apple cranberry bread. I should have been fully awake when operating said knife because before I knew it...I had cut the tip of my left thumb off! Now it's only about an 1/8th of an inch...but it bled profusly, long after I went to work. I had to go to the infirmary where "Safety Dave" applied alcohol...triple antibiotic and a bandaid. He asked why I didn't go to the Dr and I replied that my Dr wasn't in at that hour of the morning, and there was no need for stitches so it would be a waste of money to go to the ER. They agreed and let me stay at work.
4. I am so excited about summer shutdown! My girls fly in with their kids on the 18th and I get to spend time with them before we go to the family reunion!! Our plant is closed from Friday 18th at noon till the 28th of July.
5. Today was my Webelos meeting...we started work on the Athlete activity badge. They really needed that, they are a real active bunch of boys:)

Happy 4th of JULY !!
Well, I got to sleep in this morning...after waking up at 4:30 AM like I do everyday... I just closed my eyes and willed myself back to sleep! I didn't get up till 8:40! Now that's really pushing it for me:) I am doing some ceramics today for a friend and then some yardwoek. Bill is helping a brother in the ward put a new back porch on his house. We will probably grill and watch fireworks tonight. Nothing heavy for our 4th, but it's nice to be "off".

Reid Cousins Family Reunion
A Great family picnic in South Jordan Utah on Saturday afternoon. Just a get together for whoever could make it. Here's Aunt Mary

This is (An)Drew and Janelle. They have 3 little girls, but we were having a hard time rounding everyone up. So here they are with the youngest. They live here in the area.

A current project you are working on...
Another quilt top...this is one I bought at a yard sale and didn't like the layout, so I took it apart and am trying to make a queen sized quilt out of a twin. It is still a project because I have made several artisic mistakes and don't want to take it out again.
The oldest thing you own...This old brass bucket Bill got from Grandma Reid and is reported to have come across the plains with Elizabeth Jones (one of his ancestors). It has long ago lost it's handle, but we used it by the woodstove in Kuna for ashes. Currently it is serving as the wastebasket in the office.
Your worst pair of shoes...
These look pretty bad, but are comfortable and seem to me to have plenty of wear left in them...so they keep getting worn.
Something from your childhood...
This is my blessing dress. My mother made it for me 53 years ago. Mariah was also blessed in this dress and all my girls have worn it. I can't be sure, but at least one of my grandaughter's have worn it also...now it is put away.
Your 3 favorite movies...
I love "Return To Me"...It was billed as a romantic comedy, but the first time I cried all the way through. I have watched it again and again and love it every time. Now I can laugh.
Camelot...This is a different version, it stars Richard Harris, but is a stage production and is SO much better than the 1962 movie version. This was made for HBO in 1982 I think, anyway it was hard to get my hands on it, but I love it.
The Three Musketeers, just good comedy and chivalry and feel good for me.
Your key chain...
Nothing special, I don't carry many keys. My car key, the truck key, front door and back door. The important part is the little card that gets my groceries cheaper at Smith's and Albertson's!
Your favorite edible treat in the house right now...OK let me tell you I have MANY favorite treats, but this is the only one in the house right now, and I had to get it from the freezer. Can't wait to bake it and have a warm slice ala mode!
Something in your home you are proud of...
I love this chimming mantel clock. It is probably the most expensive souvenier I have ever gotten. Bill got this for me in a little clock shop in Leavenworth Washington. A charming place you must visit if you ever get out Washington way.
Your favorite wall hanging...
Melinda and Aaron gave this to us last Christmas and I have yet to add the last grandchild, but it is a crossword puzzle with all our family in it.
Something in your yard that makes you smile...
I had to say it's my roses. These little beauties were the $2.49 grocery store variety that I bought when we first moved to Tooele. They were in little 4" pots. Look at them now! This is their 3rd summer here...they do make me smile:)

No pics, just an update
Uhmm...I should write more often, then I wouldn't have to think so hard.
Recent highlights...
Dinner with Kathy and Dave at the Chilies in Orem (celebrate my B'day early cause Kathy and Dave going to Wash DC). and going to "The King And I" at the Scera (pronounced Sara) Shell Outdoor theater. It was great! I love the setting, it is in Orem Utah in a park. You climb up the outide with your lawn chairs or blanket and come over the rise to a nice ampheteater. It is all in grass and very family friendly. Parents spread out their blankets and put babies down for sleep, people had their picnic dinners and such. There were kids playing on the hillside, but because of the big open spaces it was really not distracting. Anyway, we really enjoyed that. Sorry we didn't get pictures of the theater, it's hard to imagine if you can't see it.
This week Bill had a Court of Honor with/for the scouts and I had a returned Sister Missionary from Brazil come finish up the communications badge with my Webelos. Had a little excitement Thursday with Bill and the ER but glad to report all is well, Put eating better and excersise at the top of our list. Thursday evening ...dinner at Wingers to celebrate my B'day (again?) Friday, our 34th anniversary, grabbed a bite at Sonic on our way to the Tooele nursery to spruce up our yard. It cost us less than a night at the Anniversary Inn and was a lot more work! We came home and planted 2 lilac bushes and a tree in our back yard. Saturday the work continued and Bill got my garden arch put back together (it was demolished in a wind storm). Then I planted a Clematis on either side of the arch...in years to come it may be beautiful... today they look a little scrony (sp?) I also got my tomatoes and green peppers that have been in pots, actually planted in my garden box...Yeah! When it got too hot to work outside, we cleaned up and went to a new restaurant in Stockton (the next town on the way to no where) for lunch and then took a drive to Ophir...a little mining town up in the Oquirrh mountains. It was quaint and still very small, and they want it to stay that way. We came home and napped through the rest of the heat and then finished some work outside.

What a WEEK!
I have been so busy this week. Sunday, choir before church, home teaching with Bill after church, then try to get my stuff ready for the work week. Every day after work was yard work. Tuesday Bill and I had separate service projects after work. I did a window treatment complete with greenery and frosted window panes for privacy for a sister in our ward. Bill and another brother put a swamp cooler in a single sister's house. (for those of you who don't know Bill very well, he is particularly mindful of the heat and will help anybody with whatever cooling option he can) We both got home about 9 PM and I fixed a quick bite of dinner. I had to do Taco meat for a potluck on Wednesday...luckily hamburger had been on sale a while back and I had browned all mine and sauted with onions and peppers and put in zippies in the freezer. All I had to do was thaw some out, fill the crock pot and add taco flavoring:) I am also known at work for my cakes, and the sister retiring had asked me for a lemon cake...so I put a rush job on that one! Followed that by shower and SLEEP! Wednesday Bill had scouts, I had pushed my scouts to Friday with a tour of the Tooele Transcript Bulletin (which I would later regret) I did yard work till Bill got home from scouts so we had cold cereal for dinner (there's a great one!). I recieved a call to make dinner for a sister in our ward for Thursday night, so before I went to bed I did a jello, made some cookies and cut up all the veggies for a crock pot soup to be assembled in the morning and washed the crock pot for a repeat use... SLEEP... Thursday decided to drive to Salt Lake (as opposed to taking the vanpool) this would allow me to run some errands after work and go see Aunt Alice at the hospital. Threw together the crock pot soup complete with precooked hamburger (again) grabbed a package of refrigerator biscuits out of the fridge to go with the soup...loaded the van including the jello and cookies, bosch to drop off for servicing, and address of where to pick up the graco pack and play I found on Craigslist, made several trips to the garage with the umbrella through the pouring rain...Note, VERY grateful for garage... Picked up sister Talavera for work, made two more trips with umbrella in the rain to drop off the dinner to Sister Thornton (Woke her at 5:30 AM for this) so she could deliver it in the evening and hurried on to work. So relieved to be at work where I could finally sit for 8 hours of sewing:) Right after morning break I recieved the phone call from Mom about Aunt Alice's passing. I was very saddened and at the same time very relieved for her and for her family as I was aware of the tremendous effort it has been the past few months trying to get to the bottom of her health problems. As my cousin Ruth stated in one of her updates it was a very complex case. I arranged to meet mom and Jim on their way back to Idaho to visit for a bit. That we did right after I got off work. Then I dropped off the bosch, went to a garden store and bought some dahlias, drooled over a gazebo that was on sale for $500 dollars (decided not to get that) went on to pick up the Graco. By this time the lady had gotten out a bunch of baby clothes she was also getting rid of. It took forever for me to pare down what I wanted and load the car again...at least now it wasn't raining. Stopped at Cafe Rio and picked up dinner. I remembered on the way home that I had to drive the Vanpool on Friday because the driver had gone to a wedding. So I picked Bill up and went to get the van a couple of miles away. By the time we got home we were eating after 9 again. I didn't get to bed till about 11 PM and then woke up at 3:30 AM, unable to sleep. Hence the cleaning of the kitchen Friday morning. As I picked people up and drove the Vanpool to Erda (I am not able to drive into Salt Lake because I haven't taken the safety course yet, so I drive to Erda to pick up the rest of the people we take, and there is a qualified driver there. Yeah...that means I get to SLEEP the rest of the way to Salt Lake). After sewing a few hours I remember I cannot go home and sleep after work. I have scouts! I am very happy that it is a tour and I do not personally have to deal with the little guys...After they are all delivered safely back home, I get home to find Bill asleep. He had been teaching knots and lashings all day at the 11 year old day camp...Ha, what have we got ourselves into!? I woke him so we could return the church van for the vanpool and when we got home we had leftovers for dinner and fell asleep to Dateline...after all it was Friday night...that was as close to a date as it was going to get. We did have cookies and ice cream as we sat there like zombies. This morning we slept in till 7:15! The I fixed Bill's breakfast and got him off to round 2 of daycamp while I sat down to blog. What is amazing is that after a week like this I can remember my own name, let alone what actually happened during the week:)

When did you first meet the first person on your list?
My first recollection of meeting Melinda (in the second estate) was on December 7th 1983 after having several months of getting aquainted in utero. She was tiny and sweet and it was love at first sight. What a joy she has been to our family!
What do you like about the third person on your list's blog?
Rachel has great enthusiasm and enjoys getting everyone involved in supporting one another. She finds fun everywhere she looks, and looks for ways to be a fun and supportive wife and mother. I love her photography and her singing and her writing. Very talented individual!
What do you like best about the fifth and sixth people on your list?
# 5 Kathy is a dedicated wife and mother. She looks for ways to increase her spirituality and be a good example to her family and friends. Her children are remarkable people who reflect the love and good nature she has shared with them. Kathy is a wonderful sister and is always sharing uplifting things with me and helping me to be a better person. (Love ya Kathy)
# 6 Sarah H. We have met only a few of times, but I have been very impressed with Sarah's desire to have a strong relationship with the Lord and with her family. Her children are a light in her life and she is a strength to those around her. She has made me feel welcome and a part of her family, and I really appreciate that she has been there for LaNita...a good sister.
How long have you known the ninth person on your list?
I have known Sarah F since October of 1983...I met her during our move to California from Illinois when we stopped to visit her family in Oklahoma. She was just a couple of months old.
What impresses you about the eleventh and twelfth people on your list?
#11 LaNita...What this gal sets her mind to do, she does! She has great fortitude and stick-to-it-iveness. Her "stubborn streak" has worked in her favor on many occasions:) She loves to be different and does not let what others think intimidate her. She enjoys helping others and loves to tackle a "project" whenever the circumstances permit.
#12 Michelle...I don't know Michelle as well, but I think she displays a "happy-go-lucky" attitude much of the time and is very happy to share her talents and her knowlege with others. She is creative in the kitchen and spreads sunshine, lifting others. She has a real love for animals and would have many more pets if they were tolerated well by Mark:)
What is a memory you have with the sixteenth person on your list?
I remember Steph and Jeff at the Bear Lake reunion. You could tell by the way they gazed at each other that they were very much in love. They had a limit to the kissing they could do and it was so cute to watch them after they had filled their quota...mmmm, holding hands and gazing at each other with such longing...(is that enough Steph?)
Say something nice about the eighteenth person on your list.
I don't have 18...Calista is my choice since I got to say something about my other girls. Calista is a wonderful homemaker. She has honed her skills in canning, cooking, baking, organizing, quilting, sewing, snuggling, singing, and reading to her kids. She is witty, and is a delight to those who know and love her!
